Smartspace Really Is Smart

Yeah, right, i may not be the most prolific blog writer, but there is a reason.

I keep telling people that you must keep the new content coming to help keep the visitors coming, but i have trouble doing do myself.

But there is a reason - or is that an excuse?  I have been very busy improving smartspace.

Improvements Continue

I was going through the changelogs for the smartspace system the other other day and marvelled at how far we have come in developing a great website platform. From the relatively humble beginnings of a system designed to help manage sports centres, to a platform aimed at the graphic design industry.

If you have not been in the sports industry, you have no idea on how far apart they are!

Since my last blog, which is close to 12 months ago, i have put in a huge amount of work to ensure that every smartspace website is capable of getting great search engine results and is usable by clients.

Search Engine Optimisation and Speed

With many added features in that time, I have only just caught up with respect to ensuing that every website page is capable of being fully optimised for search.

Users can now customise page names, title tags, meta descriptions and, of course, content. behind the scenes we ensure that every image has an alt tag and that code is fully standards compliant and that download speeds are optimised

According to the Google Page Speed tool, a smartspace website will measure around 90 or more in the vast majority of cases. Yahoo YSlow produces similar results.

Receptive to Graphic Designers' Requests

We have been listening to graphic designers as well, adding many features that help them produce exactly what they want, not easy in a database generated template site. We are now offering incredible levels of customisation to ensure that the designers work is produced exactly as designed.

We have also added the ability of refine design detail by adding many ids to website elements so that we can use fine grained control via css.

More gallery features have been added, including more gallery types, greater configuration and better SEO for galleries.

Recent changes have also greatly improved the options for blogs and content category archives.

More Improvements to Come

However we have not finished yet. The latest tranch of work underway at present will further improve the smartspace website platform.

You will soon see a better designed back end, a complete revision of all help files to ensure that all the latest changes are supported and that the framework system is easier to use with better navigation and connectors.

Extensive work is also near an end to a greatly improved booking system, capable of being used by a wide range of services including accomodation providers.

And finally, i now make a promise to keep my breathless public better informed and up to date with the latest and greatest from smartspace.
